To spend a life helping others,
takes a very special kind of man.
One who stands out in that band of brothers,
of the medical professions noble clan.
How many things, over so many years,
has he learnt, to acquire such skills.
How many thanks, whispered through tears,
has he heard, as the terror he stills.
He likes to think, that it's been just a job,
little realising the debt that we owe.
But ours are the lives, that death couldn't rob,
as the skills of that modest man show.
